VOLUNTEERS - those wonderful people who believe in all work & no pay
The reasons for voluteerism are many - relaxation, social opportunity, altruism, community improvement, recognition and others. However, the most frequently noted reason for volunteering is self satisfaction.

The Society could not function as it does without our volunteers, offering many opportunities for volunteer work at levels from skilled to menial.

Call us at 503-655-5574 and talk to us about volunteering. The tasks carried out by volunteers are many and varied - among them are the following:

  • Receptionist - the first person the visitor meets on entering the Museum,
  • Library Volunteers (assist the Family History Society, whose members staff the Library) working with researchers, journalists, tourists, genealogists
  • Collections Staff - document and preserve artifacts and related material
  • Stevens-Crawford volunteers - staff the historic Stevens-Crawford house, produce exhibits, events and fund-raisers
  • Living History Presenters - school tours
  • Serving on the Board of Directors
  • Banquet setup
  • Exhibit research, preparation
  • Photo Archives organization
  • Tour Guides
  • Data entry
  • Gift Shop operation
  • Yard maintenance
  • Janitorial help
  • Working on Annual Golf Tournament

We appreciate the efforts of our garden lovers - the volunteers who maintain our beautiful grounds.
